Statement of Principles

The Green Olive Collective supports and advocates for the Palestinian right of return, an end to the occupation, full equality for Palestinian citizens of Israel, and a democratic future of universal human rights.

As a collective dedicated to advancing universal human rights, we affirm our support for the Palestinian right of return. This fundamental right is enshrined in international law and reflects the core principles of justice, dignity, and equality for all people.

The right of return is a critical aspect of the Palestinian struggle for self-determination and the realization of their basic human rights. It acknowledges the historical injustices faced by Palestinian refugees and their descendants, who have been displaced from their homes and lands for more than seven decades. This right is recognized by United Nations General Assembly Resolution 194, which asserts that refugees wishing to return to their homes should be permitted to do so at the earliest practicable date.

We stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people in their enduring quest for justice and their right to return. This right is not merely a political or legal issue but an ethical imperative, rooted in universal principles of justice and the right to return to one’s home. It is a matter of rectifying historical wrongs and addressing the ongoing impacts of displacement and dispossession.

As a working collective of Jewish and Palestinian partners, our commitment to this cause is driven by our belief in inherent human rights and the need to address historical grievances through just and equitable solutions. And as members of communities that have experienced ethnic cleansing, massacre, exile, state violence, and mass displacement, we are committed to the rights of refugees and believe that a just peace and collective prosperity is only possible when we acknowledge and address the historical grievances that continue to drive ongoing violence.

We call upon the international community, including governments, civil society organizations, and individuals, to support the Palestinian right of return and to work towards the realization of this right. 

We urge all stakeholders to engage in meaningful action that honors the rights and aspirations of the Palestinian people. The path to peace and justice requires acknowledging and addressing the right of return as an integral component of a lasting peace.
